Mission of the month: why we are called to serve
Please Be Our Neighbor!
Driven by the tenet that we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus, we are an outreach congregation seeking to serve our neighbors. And who better than Mr. Rogers, who told children to "look for the helpers", to inspire us in our mission. When we first began, we knew we could not necessarily support an organization full time and the concept of Mission of the Month was born. We choose one community, organization, cause or need to support each month. We pray for the mission over the course of the month as we gather the items that were requested. While our focus is mainly on Decatur and Wise County, we have found many opportunities to serve neighbors all over North Texas... even as far as Hyderabad, India! The details of our current Mission of the Month are listed below.
May Mission of the Month - CASA
Supplies Needed:
Our focus will be on children from birth to 4 years of age. They would like for us to donate items in pairs i.e., girl pajamas & boy pajamas, girl underwear & boy underwear, girl coloring books & boy coloring books.
Infants and babies: swaddle blankets, newborn clothing, socks, sleeper jammies, hygiene kit of washcloth/baby soap/towel/hairbrush/lotion, teethers, rattles, and bibs.
Toddlers: t-shirts & short sets, gripper socks, sleeper jammies, hygiene kit of washcloth/soap/towel/brush/lotion, board books, noise maker toys, shape sorter, and ring stack.
Children 2 to 4 years of age: t-shirt & short sets, shoes, pajamas, underwear, hygiene kit of washcloth/soap/shampoo/towel/brush/lotion, toddler toothpaste & toothbrush, books, coloring books with crayons, baby dolls, animal toys, and inset puzzles.
